Luxury house renovation
About the project
Connecting the Addition to the Original House:
- This step involved integrating the new structure (addition) with the existing house. It required careful planning to ensure structural integrity and seamless design.
Foundation and Infrastructure Work:
- New Slab: A new concrete slab was constructed, leveled to the same height as the original house. This provides a stable foundation for the addition.
- Plumbing and Electrical: Essential services were extended to the addition. This includes running new plumbing lines and electrical wiring to ensure full functionality.
- Stacked Stone and Roofing: The exterior of the addition was designed to match the original structure. This included using the same style of stacked stone and roofing materials, ensuring aesthetic continuity.
Structural Modification:
- Removal of Load-Bearing Beam: A significant structural change was made by removing a load-bearing beam.
- Consultation with Structural Engineer: A structural engineer was involved to determine how to redistribute the weight safely after the removal of the beam.
Interior Finishing:
- Tape and Float for Texture Matching: The walls of the addition were finished with tape and float to match the texture of the existing house’s interior.
- Change Order: This term typically refers to a formal request for changes in the project, indicating that this part of the work was an addition or alteration to the original plan.
Lighting and HVAC:
- New Can Lights with LEDs: The addition features new can lights, fitted with energy-efficient LED bulbs.
- HVAC and Fan Installation: New heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems were installed, along with fan locations, to ensure comfortable climate control.
Curved Wall for Office:
- Construction of Curved Wall: A unique design element, a curved wall, was built specifically for an office space within the addition.
- Interior Work for Office: This office space received new flooring, paint, and can lights, highlighting the detailed work put into making this space functional and aesthetically pleasing.
